Tetsubin, or cast iron pots, were first used throughout Asia as kettles to boil water over an open fire and then later used to brew tea. Storehouse cast irons are beautiful and functional works of art. All sizes come with a mesh infuser. These pots may be used as tea kettles (to boil water) or as teapots (to brew tea). The cast iron's thick walls keep your tea hot for about an hour. Some cast iron manufacturers suggest that you should never use your cast iron over an open flame while others say it can be used in that fashion safely. Because of the conflicting advice from various cast iron pota producers Storehouse Tea Company is not making recommendation either way. Please refer to the detailed care instructions that come with each cast iron pot. With the proper care, Storehouse Tetsubins will last for years without retaining residual flavors.
